Foresters announces new look board

05 March 2013

Foresters Friendly Society confirms the appointments of two new non executive directors to its board: Michael Allen, latterly of Liverpool Victoria (LV=) and John Instance from the Financial Reporting Council.  These appointments come on the back of a new Chairman and new CEO taking up positions at the company earlier in the autumn.  Mike Wilkinson took over as Chairman whilst Paul Osborn who joined the Society in 2006 was appointed as Chief Executive.  Both appointments came into effect in November 2012.

With over thirty five years' experience in the financial services industry, Michael Allen has held a range of senior management positions within the private and mutual sectors.  As well as LV=, where he continues to run the LV= Pension Schemes, Michael has worked for companies including Winterthur Life and Friends Provident, having previously established and run the then Midland Bank's life insurance business.  He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

John Instance has a wealth of experience across business management, product development and actuarial reporting. Prior to joining the FRC, he spent ten years with Gen Re where latterly he was Head of UK Life Business.  Prior to this, he was Managing Director at Scottish Amicable International.  John is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

Neil Armitage, Marketing Director at Foresters Friendly Society said: "I am delighted to announce these senior appointments to the Foresters board.  Their combined long term insurance, actuarial and friendly society experience will be invaluable, ensuring our Board is fully skilled and cohesive as we look to modernise and ensure we remain competitive in an ever changing regulatory environment.

"At Foresters we are committed to helping our customers.  The new look Board will help ensure that the Society continues its focus on the high levels of customer satisfaction its members have come to expect.  It will also oversee new product development, seeking to deliver the best possible products and benefits to its members."
