Foresters goes back to roots to provide access to GP Consultation Service

Wednesday, May 22, 2013

At a time when increased pressure is being put on A&E departments and there are calls for an overhaul of the system, there are real concerns about getting access to qualified doctors.  Foresters Friendly Society has recently launched a new GP Consultation Service for its members* to provide a round the clock health advice service.

The GP Consultation Service connects Foresters' members directly to a practising GP who can provide advice over the phone (24/7) or online through a webcam (Mon - Fri 8.30 to 18.30).  In addition, members can call the service from anywhere in the world and where appropriate, private prescription medication can be dispatched to a work, home or overseas address giving the reassurance that professional medical advice is on hand.

Neil Armitage, Marketing Director at Foresters comments: "The problems facing the NHS have been well documented.  Friendly Societies were the precursor to the welfare state, established to help those who couldn't afford medical treatment.  As a forward thinking Friendly Society, we established the GP Consultation Service to give our members the reassurance that they can access medical advice whenever and wherever they are in the world.  We work hard to ensure that the 'Extras' available to our members are relevant and have a number of plans for additional benefits in the pipeline."

*Taking out a financial policy with Foresters gives automatic access to Foresters Extras.  Member benefits include: discretionary optical and dental grants, a legal advice helpline, and a discounted will writing service.

The member benefits offered by Foresters Friendly Society are not regulated.
