Archery Taster Day Hits the Target!
As official sponsors of Archery GB, Foresters Friendly Society ran a competition for 12 of its members to attend an archery “taster” day at the National Sports Centre, Lilleshall on Wednesday, 4 April.
Alongside some of the best archers in the world, members had the opportunity to watch the UK elite archers, Amy Oliver, Sean Evans, Andrew Randall and Becky Martin putting in the training hours ahead of the 2012 Olympic selection competition. Over lunch they were joined by Amy and Olympic Coach, Lloyd Brown which gave a great opportunity to ask questions of the team before they were taught the techniques of using a bow and arrow. Tim Hazell, Paralympic Coach was also on hand to coach some of the lucky Foresters winners!
The day concluded with a mini competition which was won by Brian Head. Neil Armitage, Marketing Director at Foresters commented, “These taster days provide members with a terrific opportunity to try out the sport first hand. Teaming up with Archery GB is a great partnership for Foresters given our brand and its historic links to the master archers Robin Hood and Little John!”
