Bruce raises £1770 for Youth Sport Trust
Bruce Hicks, a proud Lincolnshire local and active member of the Foresters Friendly Society, has completed a staggering 3000 lengths in his local swimming pool to raise funds for Youth Sport Trust!
Bruce set himself the ambitious goal of swimming 2,704 lengths in a 25-metre pool – a distance equivalent to swimming the English Channel and back – to help raise funds as part of the Foresters 2023/2024 Annual Charity Appeal.
Over the course of 5 months, Bruces’ determination and commitment to support the children’s charity and highlight their worthy cause spurred him to reach and surpass his original goal. In total, Bruce swam 3000 lengths (47 miles) and raised an incredible £1770 for charity.
Bruce shared “Every year, the President of our Society chooses a charity for us to support, providing a national focus for our fundraising efforts. For 2023-2024 we raised money for Youth Sport Trust, the UKs leading charity improving every young person’s education and development through sport and play.
I knew that I wanted to get involved to help promote the importance of sport, especially in education, and what better way to do this than being active myself. I’m so grateful to everyone that sponsored my swim, and I’m thrilled that I could raise money to help such a worthy cause.”
