How Foresters Friendly Society is Helping to Create a Society Where Alzheimer’s Doesn’t Devastate Lives

Support That Lasts Beyond World Alzheimer’s Month

As World Alzheimer’s Month draws to a close, the need for ongoing support remains. An Alzheimer’s diagnosis affects more than just one person—it impacts entire families. From navigating care decisions to managing emotional and financial stress, the journey can feel overwhelming.

At Foresters Friendly Society, we’re joining the mission to bring help and hope to people living with dementia, by partnering with Alzheimer’s Society for our 2025/26 Annual Charity Appeal.

Why Ongoing Support Matters

According to Alzheimer’s Society, (2024)

  • Around a million people people in the UK are currently living with dementia
  • Dementia costs the UK economy over £42 billion annually
  • This is set to rise sharply to double by 2040
  • Around 60% of care home residents live with some form of dementia

These numbers reflect the real-life challenges families face every day, such as the emotional impact and rising care costs.

How Foresters Friendly Is Making a Difference

Foresters Friendly is more than a social network—it’s a community of like-minded people who want to support others as they navigate through challenges in life.

Each year the Society’s President nominates a charity of their choice for the Annual Charity Appeal, and this provides a national focus for the fundraising efforts of our members and complements the many local charities that our branches support.

This year we have chosen to support Alzheimer’s Society, the UK’s leading dementia charity with over 40 years of experience addressing the biggest challenges facing people living with dementia.
