Foresters Annual Charity Appeal raises over £86,000 for Barnardo’s
Foresters Friendly Society, the Southampton-based member-owned mutual society which offers a range of financial products, has donated a total of £86,020.75 to Barnardo’s which was chosen as the Society’s annual President’s Charity Appeal for 2013/2014.
Lucy Clements and Trish Slade, members of Foresters Friendly Society, supported the annual charity appeal through a range of events including a Kilimanjaro challenge, and raised over £13,000 for Barnardo’s. Lucy commented “I’m conquering my fears left, right and centre. It’s very hard, but I’m a resilient person and I’m loving every minute of it! It’s life changing and very humbling with the things that we are seeing!
Throughout the year Foresters members and staff arranged a series of fundraising events and initiatives to raise money for Barnardo’s and to help vulnerable children suffering from poverty, sexual exploitation, disability or domestic violence so that they can get the best possible start in life. Through research, campaigning and the wide ranging projects it runs, Barnardo’s transforms the lives of abused and neglected children.*
Sally Waterfield, Head of Marketing at Foresters Friendly Society, said: “Our members have once again raised a phenomenal amount of money over the year to support our chosen charity. Barnardo’s provides vital support to help children throughout the UK and we’re very pleased we could support such a great cause.”
Janet Clements, the Society’s President for 2013/2014, said “I have been overwhelmed with the support of our members who have been involved in a variety of crafts, sporting and social fundraising activities – all to raise money for Barnardo’s, proving that Foresters also ‘Believe in Children’.”
