Foresters Convalescent Grants
Our discretionary Convalescent grants assist members recuperating after short or long illnesses by providing a stay in a convalescent home. Foresters Friendly Society supports a convalescent home in Bridlington, Yorkshire, which has been used by thousands of our members to rest, recuperate and recover following illness. Members may be eligible for support with costs towards a stay and non-members, such as spouses, can accompany you for an additional charge. We also provide grants for stays in convalescent homes in other locations closer to you.
To apply:
1. Please read the terms and conditions below for Foresters Convalescent Grants.
2. Complete our application form and get your local Court (branch) Secretary to sign and return it to us at the address below.
Return address:
Foresters Friendly Society, Genesis Centre, Innovation Way, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, ST6 4BF.
3. If you do not know your local Court (branch) Secretary details, use our Court finder tool here.
4. If it is not possible for you to obtain a signature from your Court Secretary first, please return your completed
form to the address above or via email to [email protected].

“I knew after having major surgery that my recovery would be at least 6-8weeks and my daughter could only stay with me for the first two weeks. Friends could help out in week three, so convalescence for week four will be a blessing. I could never have afforded to pay for a convalescent stay.
Therefore, I would have had to go against doctors’ orders as to tasks I shouldn’t be doing as I live alone, therefore potentially hindering my recovery. The help and advice from our Branch Secretary had been so helpful. The week spent in the convalescence home has definitely been beneficial and helped towards my ongoing recovery. Many thanks to the Foresters. ”
Dawn, Stanmer

All grants offered by the Society are discretionary. Qualifying periods apply.
In order to apply for a grant from the Foresters Convalescent Fund you must meet the following criteria:
- Members must have been a member of the Society for a minimum of six months to qualify for the convalescent home benefit
- Where an application is made for further Convalescent Home treatment within two years of the member having already received treatment for two weeks, a letter stating the special circumstances which necessitate further treatment should be forwarded to the Court Helpdesk, in addition to completing the application form
