Foresters Monthly Charity Appeal Roundup – September 2025
Welcome to the third edition of our Foresters monthly roundup! In this series, we shine a spotlight on the incredible dedication of our members as they rally together to support Alzheimer’s Society — the UK’s leading dementia charity. Their fundraising efforts are part of our 2025/2026 Annual Charity Appeal, and each month we’re inspired by the passion and commitment they bring to this important cause.
In September, we observed World Alzheimer’s Month and World Alzheimer’s Day on the 21st, however the need for ongoing support extends beyond. 1 in 3 people born in the UK today will develop dementia in their lifetime, which is one of the reasons why Foresters members are supporting Alzheimer’s Society for 2025/2026.

Memory Walks – to fund dementia support and research
On Sunday 14th September, our Foresters South Sussex Branch (2454) organised a sponsored Memory Walk to help raise donations and awareness for Alzheimer’s Society.
Court Secretary, Diana shared: “Although we were all prepared with all our waterproofs, the sun shone, and it remained dry for a lovely walk along the Cuckoo Trail on Sunday – although it did start to rain again as we all drove home.
We met for a coffee before we started at Weatherspoon’s and finished at the Horse & Groom in Polegate for lunch.
It was a very successful day for the charity, and we look forward to revealing the total amount raised at our cheque presentation with Gail Lancaster, High Chief Ranger.”

“September has been exciting month from Court 2454’s Memory Walk to a Sunday Lunch at Dorset Golf club with Courts 5779 and 6209 including a raffle, to Area meetings and Courts holding raffles to raise funds. I want to thank all of you as does the Alzheimer’s Society for all of your support, and I am looking forward to receiving further reports and photos during my time as High Chief Ranger.

It will take a society to beat dementia
In September, we saw a new advert from Alzheimer’s Society with a powerful message: “It will take a society to beat dementia.”
This message highlights that tackling dementia requires a collective effort from communities, families, and organisations like Alzheimer’s Society coming together. By working hand in hand, we can help to create a world without dementia.
As a Friendly Society, we value shared commitment — a principle proudly embodied in the Foresters Friendly Society Annual Charity Appeal, which brings our Foresters community together each year in support of charitable causes.
Dementia remains the UK’s biggest killer and can affect anyone at any age, which is why we are proudly supporting Alzheimer’s Society for our 2025/2026 appeal.
