Foresters Charity Appeal Monthly Roundup – April 2026
Welcome to the latest edition of our Foresters charity appeal roundup! In this series, we provide updates on our current appeal and celebrate the incredible efforts of our members, as they unite to support Alzheimer’s Society – the UK’s leading dementia charity.
Taking The Leap
April was quite an exciting month as we saw two Foresters (a father and son duo), Stephen and Keane, take on a 300ft charity bungee jump.
A message from High Chief Ranger, Gail Lancaster:
“At around 2pm on Sunday 19th April 2026, Stephen took part in an exhilarating bungee jump at Tatton Park, Knutsford. This was a remarkable display of courage as Stephen descended from an impressive height of 300 feet in the UK’s biggest bungee jump.
Stephen took on this challenge to raise both vital funds and awareness of Alzheimer’s Society, and I am incredibly grateful for his support. Dementia remains the UK’s biggest killer, and it is a condition that can affect any one of us. I think the shock for Keane’s Mum, Brook, has finally worn off after watching her eldest son take the first leap – something that wasn’t planned until the day of!”

Wrigley’s Ramble
In 2024, a determined group of Foresters walked the full length of Hadrian’s Wall in memory of our colleague, Stephen Wrigley. This incredible effort raised nearly £9,000 for charity.
The intrepid team decided to lace up their boots once more, this time walking 40 miles around the stunning Gower Peninsula in just two days, all to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Society.
The walk took place on 23rd to 24th April 2026 and participants included Foresters members Glyn, Trish, Charlotte, Alan, and Bruce & Helen, with transport and support kindly provided by Richard and Madelaine.
A huge congratulations to the team for successfully completing their 40-mile expedition and for raising over £1775.
Gala Dinner
One of the highlights of the month was of course the Annual High Chief Ranger’s Gala Dinner, which was held this year at the Royal Hotel in Weston-super-Mare. High Chief Ranger, Gail Lancaster, commented “Well the weather was perfect if not a tad too warm. The hotel was welcoming and my guests were fabulous. The evening started with Welsh Cakes with predinner drinks – yummy – accompanied by a slideshow highlighting charity activities that have taken place throughout the year with the sound of Foresters Brass (a band that Foresters proudly supports) playing in the background. A raffle on the evening raised £500. Thank you so much to everyone who donated items and purchased tickets.
Two representatives from Alzheimer’s Society kindly joined us and gave a speech to guests. Overall, it was a stunning evening, and I thank everyone that joined me in celebrating my year as High Chief Ranger and supporting Alzheimer’s Society.”
